Funded in 2012, Iron Studios is the first Brasilean Company which designs and realizes high detailed figures and statues for collectors. Due to the acquisition of different licenses (Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Ghostbusters), the production is quite branched out and seems to be destined to increase in the future, especially after the great success among all fans of the 1:4 statues devoted to the Marvel movies. The great popularity of the Company, in fact, mainly started with the release of two spectacular 1:4 statues inspired by the second movie of the Avengers saga (The Age of Ultron) and devoted to Captain America and Iron Man. Both the pieces remind the early scenes of the film (with a battle in a snowy forest) and are characterized by a spectacular sculpt, a great attention paid to details and a relevant likeness with the movie's characters. An anomaly concerns the run: the statues were released with an edition size of 400 pieces for Cap and 300 samples for Iron Man, but later the Company decided to increase this number by releasing a second batch of 181 pieces, officially destined to a well defined (Oceanian?) market. I personally do not care too much about the edition size, but, in any case, I think it is not a good policy to increase it, especially after the official release. Anyway, both the two statues are simply phenomenal! Released in 2016, the Iron Man statue was sculpted by Rafael Mustaine. The hero is depicted with the Mark XLIII version of the armor, characterized by a rather complex design with a lot of different patches and the outstanding combination of very bright red, silver and yellow-gold colors. The dynamic and aerial pose of the character immediately catches the eyes: the left foot sole, in fact, is the only connection point with the base, here constituted by a large trunk on a snowy rocky terrain, while the whole body vertically floats in the air. The left leg is fully elongated and presumably equipped with an inner, long metal support, able to hold up the statue's weight, while the right leg is stylishly bent forward; the trunk is rotated on the left, an arm is bent backward with the clenched fist and the other is fully elongated, with the hand open and ready to shoot his powerful repulsor beam. The attention to details is outstanding. Note the well-structured and symmetrical combination of small, gold and silvery patches at both sides of the abdomen, the horizontal strips charaterizing the armor's junctions on knees, arms, wrists and fingers, the captivating and squared contours on legs, the realistic spots of snow on feet, the detail of the inner mechanisms at armpits level and the sophisticated design of the suit on back.

The final result is a very elegant figure, enriched by some scratches (scattered here and there, in order to provide a slight damaged effect) and, above all, by inner leds located at hands, feet, eyes and in the circular reactor, centered on chest. As already said, the base reminds the early scenes of the movie and shows a snowy soil with a large trunk, whose sculpt quality and realism are simply astonishing! Generally speaking, my statues collection is inspired by love for Comics and I always tried to limit my purchases to pieces based on Comics; nevertheless, I was very happy to make an exception for this statue (as well as the same Age of Ultron Captain America by Iron Studios and the first Hulk maquette released by Sideshow), which undoubtedly represents a top-quality collectible for any Marvel fan.
